We hire teachers who enjoy children and are committed to providing a quality program. When recruiting, we look for a positive attitude, knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, experience with young children, reliability and a good energy level. Our lead teachers all have at least a decade of professional experience in early childhood education. We are very proud of their level of training. All staff go through a thorough orientation and complete the Washington State STARS program. They are CPR/first aid trained. Quality assessments assure top notch performance, year after year. We only use positive guidance techniques when teaching children self control, social and self help skills. Our continuing education includes STARS classes, staff meetings, WA Association for the Education of Young Children and Childcare Resource and Referral conferences. We retain top teachers by maintaining a positive work environment, paid training, vacation pay, medical and dental benefits.

Braithburn Academy exceeds licensing standards. Each age group has their own classroom, curriculum and schedule. This allows us to follow developmentally appropriate practices. A daily routine in posted and followed. This predictability allows children to feel safe and comfortable. All classrooms are divided into different learning centers. Children’s schedules have both child selected and teacher directed activities. Theme based lesson plans provide learning of language and literacy, math, physical development, science, social/emotional skills and kindergarten readiness. Our teachers meet with local elementary school teachers and principals to review current expectations. Children get fresh air and gross motor development by having outside play twice each day. The daily schedule allows for both quiet and active activities.
Our goal is to instill a love a learning in each child. We teach them independence and instill confidence. We emphasize getting to know every child and family individually. We welcome children of any race, sex, ethnicity, and religion.
